My third set of shows was spent with my dear friend Audra, who invited me to all of the shows I got to attend to this season. Sunday was when the Nolcha Shows were going for the entire afternoon. These are where very small emerging designer present a smaller, more eclectic collection of their work. Sometimes, for a one time slot, more than one runway show will happen, which makes the content and experience really interesting.
All four collections were very interesting and different in their own way. My favorite was Videmus Omnia and ACIDNYC because they were more eclectic and avant garde. They were pushing norms of fashion either by daily wear outfits or theatrical, detailed, references from past time periods. The BENNOV show was small, yet beautiful with classic silhouettes and gorgeous details for gowns. One show that isn’t pictured in this blog post is the SUPIN show because it was streetwear style from Asia for men! (None of my photos came out well for that show so I am not posting them.)
My outfit inspiration for that day was color blocking the trending colors, green and cobalt. I am obsessed that all shades of green have been trending and I really wanted to use this color in an outfit for Fashion Week. I went with all blue accessories to match my outfit and designated the bold green color for my coat. It was freezing that day as well and since the blue sweater and the green coat I wore was too thin, I wore a long sleeve shirt and light sweater underneath the blue sweater, along with tights and long socks under my cropped pants. I loved my outfit for this day, I got a lot of attention and I got to color block with Audra, who wore an adorable purple dress and my baby blue coat, I let her borrow.
It was an even better experience to go to shows with a friend that shares the same tastes me. We even met other girls at the show and took photos with them! I also met a lot of different photographers and other media people at the shows. I was truly an experience and I sure was tired by the end of all of this and I didn’t even go to as many shows as other people! But I am truly thankful for this experience and would do it all over again 🙂 (lets hope!)
