HOUSTON: PIPILOTTI EXHIBITION

My best friend, Tung’s birthday was this past weekend and to celebrate a few friends and I drove to Houston to see him. We spent the day eating and hopping around museums. I have been really wanting to see the new exhibition at the MFA in Houston called Pixel Forest and Worry Will Vanish by Pipilotti Rist. It is a large venue that is open to as many people at one time. The room is divided by the strings of lights that sparkle and change colors with the tune of the soothing sounds being played by the video on the opposing wall. The video clip on repeat shows a dreamscape of human organs and nature. There are floor mats in front of the screen so you can sit and watch lights around you glisten to the music. It is a really interesting experience and you can just sit there and really immerse yourself for as long as you’d like. I will definitely be coming back. I didn’t want to upload so many pictures because you should go see it for yourself if you live in Texas.

Afterwards, we ate at The Dunlavy in Memorial Park, which has this beautiful dining room with crystal chandeliers. From there we drove to the Menil and saw the Dan Flavin Exhibition Hall and had fun taking pictures in different colored lighting.

Overall, it was a fun day and my best friend had an amazing birthday πŸ™‚
