September 29 – October 2
After Fashion Week in Milano, a few friends and I made a last minute decision to go to Cinque Terre for the last weekend in September. We booked an Airbnb in La Spezia and used the train to travel to and from each town in Cinque Terre. Each train was about two to 12 minutes long, so it was really quick to hop from each town in one day. Although, there was a train strike that weekend, so it did deter our plans slightly, but we worked around it and got where we needed to be.
We started in Riomaggiore, climbing over the rocks to catch this beautiful view of the town. My favorite part about each of these towns was the color combinations of each building nestled in the cliffs. After grabbing some delicious seafood, we took the train to Manarola. We found a little hiking trail around the cliff that let us capture some wonderful photos of the town. We did not go swimming because the temperature was just warm enough to be in a t-shirt, but too cool in the shade. Not only that, the weather was not always good throughout the day to get in the water.
We skipped Corniglia because the town did not come all the way down to the water, so we went ahead to Vernazza, which is probably my favorite town! We hiked all the way up the cliff on the opposite side to take a picture of this gorgeous town! The sun was setting, which brought out the colored houses and crystal blue water. We had dinner in Vernazza at this really nice seafood restaurant by the pier.
The next day, it rained a lot, so we just took the train to Monterosso al Mare and relaxed for most of the day. We bought some trinkets to take back with us then had dinner in La Spezia.
Cinque Terre is so beautiful and definitely good for hiking around, or just lounging by the beach swimming. It was the perfect weekend getaway for some relaxation.
